Keep the following tips in mind and be safe while installing and operating your Genie garage door opener.
Garage Doors & Openers

While the door is moving, keep people and pets away from the door.

Never let children play with the garage door opener.

Never operate a garage door opener with a broken spring or a door that jams.

Make sure that your garage door is correctly balanced before installing your opener.

Before installation, take all locks, lift handles, and ropes off your garage door.

Install your Emergency Release Knob 6" off the floor and your garage door opener at least 7" off the floor.

Place your Emergency Release Tag next to or on your Emergency Release.

Place your wall button within site of the garage door but away from any of the door's moving parts, and at least 5" up on the wall, out of reach of small children.

Place the Entrapment Warning Label close to the wall button.

Never plug the opener into a power source before instructed to do so in your owner's manual.

High Tension Springs
Adjustment and repair of your high tension springs should be done ONLY by a trained door system technician. Don't attempt to adjust or repair them, or anything to which they're attached.
Electrical Shock

Before removing the cover of your opener, turn off the power.

Before your replace the cover, check that wires aren't near any moving parts, and are not pinched.

Plug your operator only into properly grounded outlets.
